Bible Dedication at F & S
A very exciting evening at Fidelity and Sincerity on Monday 20th February when the MEGS and his Provincial Team gathered at Wellington Lodge to Dedicate a new Bible for the Chapter. The rehearsal for the Team stared just after 5.00pm and went through very reasonably. It was the first Dedication that the Team has done, which E Comp Chris Summers, PrGDC, was involved in producing the ceremony.
At 6.30pm the Chapter was opened, the Minutes of the November meeting were approved followed by the PrGDC announced that MEGS E Comp Raymond Guthrie was without attended by members of the Provincial Team and demanded admission. MEGS was welcomed by ME Comp Chris Waterhouse and proffered the Sceptre which he retained and took the chair. E Comps John Brown, acting H, and Duncan Sully-Dunbar, J, welcomed E Comp Neil Hurcum, 2nd Pr G Principal, and E Comp Geoff Lester, 3rd Pr G Principal and they took their chairs respectfully. PrGDC replaced other Chapter Officers with Team members.
MEGS then explained what the meeting was for and called upon E Comp Charlie Barker, PrScribeE, to give a history of the Bible, which had been handed down through the generations of his family (please click here for the text). A deputation from the Chapter Principals, Sojourners and E Comp Adrian Halliwell to retire to escort the Bible into the Chapter. The bible carried by E Comp Adrian passed around the Chapter before setting it on a plinth. A very well formed and interesting Oration was given by E Comp Geoff Lester (please click here for the text). The Bible was then placed in its appropriate place on the floor of the chapter. MEGS thanked E Comp Chris and the members of 1966 for allowing the Team to Dedicate the Bible and the Chapter Principals and Officers were returned to their places.
The Almoner’s report was given by E Comp Jim Nicol, ScribeE detailing members and families that were unwell before the Risings took place. After the Second Rising MEGS and the Provincial Team retired for the chapter after which the final Rising and closing was carried out. The chapter was closed with hymn followed by the National Anthem with the companions retiring to the Festive Board. At the Festive Board E Comp Chris announced that there would be a collection for the local Foodbank and £210,75.
