Provincial Annual Ball 2023
On the weekend of 3rd to 5th February 2023 the annual Provincial Ball was held at the Durrant Hotel in Bideford. It was very well with attended by 190 Somerset and other Provinces companions together with their wives/partners.
An excellent Friday night buffet was followed by a full dancefloor until closing time. The traditional drinks reception on the Saturday marked the start of a super evening for many the companions, ladies and gentlemen who attended.
The weekend was hosted by MEGS Ray Guthrie and his wife Hazel who welcomed those attending at the drinks reception. He was well supported by his team in the persons of the Deputy Grand Superintendent, E Comp Clive Lambert and Penny, the Second Provincial Grand Principal, E Comp Neil Hurcum and Zena, and the Third Provincial Grand Principal, E Comp Geoff Lester and Fiona on Saturday before the grand dinner.
The meal was enjoyed by everyone and there were only two formal toasts this evening; the Loyal Toast proposed by MEGS followed by the Toast to the Ladies, proposed by E Comp David Dixon which was ably responded to by Mrs Jenny Bennett.
The evening then proceeded with dancing to a live band before carriages were called.
Our thanks once again must go to E Comp David Parslow and his wife Jo for all their hard work in organising the event, and to the hardworking staff of the Durrant House Hotel.
