Taunton Branch SMFA Christmas Lunch

The Taunton branch of the SMFA held a delightful Christmas Lunch on Sunday 4th December 2022.   Organised by Lynn Evans and the committee (Shirley Farmer, Diana Mulhall, Avril Hooley, Sandra Wilson, Ray Baines and of course Tony Evans, Roger Bailey, Peter Farmer and Chris Partridge) who all pulled together to make it a success, over 60 diners sat down to a traditional Christmas lunch, prepared as ever by our marvelous caterer at Taunton, Karen (Did you know – just had our Environmental Health inspection, Karen was awarded the highest possible mark – 5 STARS!).  The dining room had been decorated by our hard-working Hall Manager, Hayley, and the tables were no less well decorated by Lynn and her team, who had been there the day before to set it all up.

As well as the lunch, Lynn and the team had organised a Secret Santa, a heads and tails, and a “guess the weight” Christmas cake (6lb 9oz!)  to make the Lunch go with a swing.  Friendship and camaraderie were the order of the day, with much laughter and good company.

We were very pleased that our new PGM, Ray Guthrie, and Hazel could join us.  Ray said all the kind words one would expect – and then surprised us all.  Lynn is the first ever female recipient of the Provincial Grand Masters Certificate of Commendation. This award reflects both the quality and volume of work she has put into the Taunton branch, especially in the care she shows for members. She is truly Masonic in her approach.
