Royal Cumberland No. 41 meeting on 18th October 2022

We received the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent in and over the Province of Somerset, Excellent Companion Raymond Guthrie, ably assisted by Provincial Grand Steward, E Comp Tim Adams.

The following Principals for the coming year were declared as elected:

E Comp David M W Hogg was as MEZ, E Comp John Townsend as H and E Comp. Neil B Hawes as J.

E Comp David J Dixon was declared elected as treasurer.

A proposal to adjust the ritual was made, whereby the ritual is more proportionately allocate amongst the companions, so that no one companion had a disproportionate amount of ritual to perform. The companions agreed to adopt the changed ritual for a period of two years, and if successful, to adopt the newly altered ritual.

E Comp. Raymond Guthrie addressed the meeting, expressing the importance of mentoring for new and young members to the Chapter. He also commended the companions on being prepared to adjust the ritual. He said that roles within a chapter that comprise large parts of ritual can sometimes prove a deterrent for new members preventing them from advancing through the offices. He noted that the adjustments made are a step toward removing that deterrent.

A festive board was enjoyed by all!
