Chapter of Sincerity No.261 supports RED SQUIRREL project
RED SQUIRRELS – The new scout provision for 4 to 6 year olds.
As Charity Steward of the Chapter, I was tasked with the very pleasant labour of finding a worthy cause to donate £1,000 to which had built up in our Charity Account.
There are many good causes out there!! Where to start? But strange how life sometimes leads us (long story) but I became aware of the RED SQUIRREL project at Huish Woods near Taunton. The initiative having been launched nationally in September 2021.
I met up with local Project Leader Sara Milsted and I was very impressed with her vision and enthusiasm for supporting the local RED SQUIRREL groups when they visit Huish Woods. Approval from the Chapter enabled me to present a cheque to Sarah which she received on behalf of the Blackdown District Scout Council who run the Huish Woods facility.
Having talked to Jim Baker the Charity Steward of Lodge of Unanimity and Sincerity No.261 I am happy to report that, if approved, the Lodge will be able to present a cheque for £250 immediately, with the possibility of a further £250 cheque later in the year. A total of £1500 towards the anticipated £2500 total cost of the project.
The inaugural meeting for RED SQUIRRELS will take place at the new site on Sunday May 15th to which Sincerity Chapter members will be invited. Details will be given at our next meeting on the 11th May
