Taunton Deane Installation – 2022

On Friday 27th May Taunton Deane Chapter enjoyed a goodly number of Companions for their Installation Ceremony. The Chapter was opened by E Comp Harry Price, MEZ, assisted by E Comp Colin Martin, H, and E comp Stephen Parsons, J, and the opening hymn was sung. E comp Graham Watts, Acting PrAssGDC, reported that E Comp Geoff Lester, 3rd Prov Grand Principal, accompanied by Numerous Grand Officers and Prov Grand Officers, demanded admission. E Comp Geoff was greeted by MEZ and the Sceptre was proffered which E Comp Geoff thanked MEZ for the offer but was happy to let E Comp Harry to continue with the ceremony.

The Minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed and the Almoner, E Comp Roger Seaton, acting Scribe E, gave his report.

The main event of the evening was announced and the Installation of the Three Principals commenced in Aldersgate ritual, which to some of the visitors was unknown. Comp James Holyday took the obligation of Joshua, E Comp Stephen Parsons that of Haggai and E Comp Colin Martin as Zerubbabel. Then all below the rank of 3rd Principal retired from the chapter and Comp James was Installed into that chair. All below the rank of 2nd Principal retired and E Comp Stephen was Installed into that chair and then all below the rank of 1st Principal retired and E Comp Harry Price Installed E Comp Colin Martin into the 1st Principal’s Chair.

The Principals then Appointed and Installed the Officers for the forthcoming year. A particular noteworthy event was the appointment of E Comp Kevin Hill as DC, taking over from E Comp Maldwyn Davies who has been in that office for 18 years.

The Chapter was closed and the 38 companions then moved to the dining room where a fine meal awaited them and the evening continued in a very convivial atmosphere.
